Organic and Synthetic Accordion Book

This series represents the co-existence of the natural and man-made worlds. To represent this relationship, I fused together organic elements with synthetic shapes, showing the harmony that lives between the different worlds. Capturing the abstract beauty of the organic forms, this study shows that many synthetic, stiff shapes can be found within the natural world in the contours of a leaf or the shape of a patch of moss. I wrote a haiku as the foundation of this study and used the verses to pace the designs, using one line for each design. 7.5” x 7.5”
