Website Design for Waste Pollution Awareness

For this environmental awareness website, I shed light on the issue of waste pollution. Through four pages on the site, users can navigate and learn about the general concerns of waste pollution, what constitutes waste, how waste is disposed and where it ends up, and the proposed solutions of the issue and how people can take action. With my images, I wanted to communicate the reality of waste pollution and how it affects our health and environment.  

My approach to designing the website stemmed from my imagery, with the colors, layout, and typography chosen to compliment and highlight the images. Ultimately, my goal was to keep the design simple to make the illustrations the most impactful part of the website since they strongly communicated my intended awareness message and mood. As a result, I kept other elements like navigation, color scheme, and layout simple and minimal. Although these elements are modest, they still have an impact on the tone of the design, particularly the typography. I chose fonts to compliment the hand-drawn softness of the imagery, deciding to go with the Vollkorn and Lato typefaces. Created using HTML and CSS.
