E-Publication Design for an Article
I designed (hypothetical) versions of a Rolling Stone article to better understand the constraints of publication design for screens. My main goal was to make stylistic choices of color, typeface, and layout to help tell the story of the article through visual means. With this in mind, I also considered typeface legibility, color mood, interaction behaviors, file transfer time, user experience, and varied screen sizes. Although Rolling Stone is known for their iconic red logo, I decided to take creative license and opted for a blue shade instead, as I felt it suited the particular mood and tone of the article better. Furthering the article’s story, I chose typefaces, image style, and overall page layout to reflect the tone, developing a grid system to help accommodate these elements of visual storytelling.
